ABINGDON, Va. -

Plenty of artists were on hand for a local event, teaching  people how clothing is made.

The Heartwood in Abingdon hosted an event called "Farm to Fashion."

There were two alpacas there and the artists showed how their coat can be spun into yarn and turned into scarves.

Margaret Rich, a fiber artist, was there teaching traditional sewing.

"I want to plant seeds in youngin's minds to do this because I'm the last of my family alive and I don't want it to be lost," said Rich. "I want it to be continued on."

Many hand-made items from the local artists are can be purchased at the gallery.
