The Pocahontas Exhibition Mine in West Virginia is preparing for a new season.
The Associated Press reports that a new highway sign in front of the mine's entrance was unveiled Saturday during a grand reopening ceremony.
Pocahontas Mayor Benjamin Aaron Gibson said volunteers are still working to prepare the mine for the 2013 season. It won't open for another three weeks.
The attraction first opened to tourists in 1938. It has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.
The original mine opened in 1883 and operated until 1955.
