BRISTOL, Tenn. -

More than 90 years' worth of grime has been scrubbed off a Confederate soldier statue in Bristol.

Roanoke contractor John Kirtley used a baking soda paste and tools to clean the white Italian marble statue.

Kirtley says that the statue has some erosion on the face, but it was mostly just dirty.

The statue was erected in 1920. It was moved from the Bristol Train Station to a parking lot near the city's main fire station about two years ago.
