Horse ride for crash victim
DAMASCUS, Va. -

A few weeks ago we told you about a head-on  collision on Highway 107, between Chilhowie and Saltville.

One of the drivers injured in the crash, Jeff Yarber, woke up last week after spending the two weeks since the accident in an induced coma.

On Sunday, his family and friends gathered for a horse ride to raise money for his recovery.

Yarber has five children, between four months old and 14 years old.

He is a member of the Old Virginia Wagon and Saddle Club.

Event organizers tell us about 75 to 100 riders came out in support of Yarber.

"We're overwhelmed with the support we've gotten from everybody in the community," said Tina Yarber, Jeff Yarber's sister-in-law. "A lot of our horse people, as well call them, have big hearts and are willing to give and do more than we ever expected."

Riders paid $25 per horse to ride in the event.

All proceeds go to the family to help them pay medical bills and everyday expenses.

Jeff Yarber broke most of the bones in his left side in the accident.
