JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

An investigation is underway after a Johnson City church was broken into and vandalized.

Johnson City police tell us the Pastor at Hosanna Fellowship on Sunset Drive discovered the break-in Sunday morning. According to police, the person or persons got into the church by kicking in an air vent in the back of the building and then went on a destructive spree, looking for valuables along the way.

Johnson City Police say all locked doors inside were kicked in and the rooms ransacked. A safe was ripped off the floor and the offering box was torn off the wall.

We've learned two guitars, some checks, and 70 pounds of British currency were stolen.
