The Volunteer State is improving when it comes to the well-being of children in Tennessee.

According to the annual Annie E. Casey Foundation's Kids Count Report, Tennessee ranks 39th on overall child well-being.

While that's a drop from last year's ranking, the state did improve in several areas including high school graduation rates and teen birth rate.

The Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth executive director Linda O'Neal says the agency is committed to a range of strategies aimed at improving outcomes for children.
