Local vineyard says rain a help to wine

RAIN A HELP TO LOCAL VINEYARDS
BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. -

All this rain is good news for grape growers and wine lovers.

We stopped by Countryside Vineyards and Winery in Blountville, Tennessee where employees say this wet weather is helping grapes grow.

In fact they say crops are bigger this year than in the past, which means more bottles of wine.

But too much rain could cause problems. "If it goes too long with the rain the moisture will be taken up into the grape and it'll get bigger and bigger, then crack or burst. Then you've got a real mess with bugs too," said owner Jim Thomas.

Thomas says they're hoping for more sunshine so the grapes can begin to ripen.
