Man arrested in connection with Campus Ridge shooting

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Johnson City Police make an arrest in a shooting that happened more than a month ago just off the campus of East Tennessee State University. 

Police tell us 18-year-old Jaqwayle Madison was arrested Wednesday in connection with that shooting.

Officers say Madison was developed as a suspect throughout the course of their investigation into the shooting at Campus Ridge Apartments on September 15. Police say during the incident, a man was robbed and shot in the leg. The victim was taken to the hospital for surgery to repair a shattered shin bone.

News 5 has learned Madison was interviewed; police say he admitted to his involvement in the shooting and the robbery. 

Police also say Madison admitted to being involved in two burglaries of residences in the Campus Ridge Apartment complex.

Madison is now charged with one count of especially aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery. He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. 

His bond was set at $90,000.
