Medicaid rolls could grow when Terry McAuliffe takes office

Several hundred thousand new patients could be added to the Medicaid rolls if Virginia's new governor has his way.
Governor elect Terry McAuliffe said during his campaign that he is in favor of adding new participants to the rolls.
The Virginia General Assembly decided not to increase the rolls last session.
Delegate Terry Kilgore says he doesn't believe the house will pass the measure this session either. "Right now Medicaid is almost surpassing education in the state budget," he said. "We have to be very mindful about what we are doing. We have to be careful with the tax dollars. I will say that this year from the House side it's not going to happen."
Kilgore says the house set up a legislative commission to study the idea last year. He says he looks forward to hearing that report when they go back into session in January.
