The Bristol Virginia Public School System Education Foundation announced the creation of the "Kristin Griffin Palmer Memorial Fund" Tuesday.
Palmer worked for the school system for 21 years as an English teacher at Virginia High School and coached the Virginia High School Drama Club.
Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Fred Newman said Mrs. Griffin Palmer, her son Griffin Palmer, and her mother Nancy Griffin tragically lost their lives on Tuesday, February 25th at the hands of Palmer's estranged husband.
According to the foundation, the Kristin Griffin Palmer Memorial Fund will serve to create a permanently endowed scholarship whose name and funding priorities will be established by the Griffin family at a later date. "It is indeed a great honor and privilege that we establish this memorial fund in the name of Kristen Griffin Palmer. Kristen was a profound educator, mentor, colleague and friend. She touched a lot of lives and this is a fitting way that we remember how she lived and the impact and legacy she left behind", said Chairman-Bristol Virginia School Board Chairman Tyrone Foster.
