He's considered armed, dangerous, and was recently added to the TBI's Most Wanted list -- police continue their search for a man accused of shooting two people outside of a home in Johnson County, Tennessee on Monday morning.
We caught up with the suspect's mother who told us she's simply worried for her son's life.
Police across Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina are on the hunt for Richard Shane Mabe. He's on the TBI's Top Ten Most Wanted List for what they say is a shooting of two people early Monday morning. Click here to read more about the investigation.
We caught up with his mother Tammy ,who didn't want to give her full name for fear of her safety. She says she hasn't seen her son since Monday. "That's why he fled, he's in fear of his life for the authorities," said Tammy.
Mabe's mother says she believes the altercation that happened outside of a home on Divide Road went down much differently and she had a sinking suspicion when her son left Sunday night. "I told him before he left, I felt it. I said, 'Don't leave.' I said, 'It's a setup.' I don't know them and he didn't tell me who was going to see so I said don't go," added Tammy.
We learned the Johnson County Sheriff's Office is chasing down every possible lead and there are always two sides to a story. "That's why we would like Mabe to come in, turn himself in, and tell us his side of the story," said Sheriff Mike Reece.
Sheriff Reece says the reason Mabe is on the Most Wanted List is simply because of this recent investigation. He says that Mabe has a long criminal history and is a sex offender.
But for this worried mother, she has a simple message. "I love you and I know you wouldn't hurt anyone unless they were trying to kill you," added Tammy.
