A new art sculpture is coming to downtown Bristol.
On Tuesday the non-profit group Art in Public Places (AiPP) announced it is teaming up with Eastman Credit Union to create a permanent sculpture for Bristol.
The artwork will be placed in front of the Bristol Public Library and will be called "Bristol's Cultural Heritage". We're told it will feature cultural diversity including music, coal mining, railroad and agriculture.
"Even though 'Bristol's Cultural Heritage' will be a contemporary piece of art, it will have traditional elements incorporated into it. So, we hope people will love it," says concept designer Mary Jane Miller.
The sculpture is expected to be about 7,500 pounds when finished.
The artists won't reveal the piece until it is installed in October of 2014.
