No Independence Day fireworks display for Marion, Virginia
The Fourth of July sky will not be filled with bright displays in the town of Marion, Virginia this year. The town council decided against holding the annual fireworks display.
The council voted six-to-one Monday night against the ceremony because of a lack of available and certified pyrotechnic operators. News 5 is told, council members also cited regulations and costs as reasons to not hold the display.
The council says it will look into alternative celebrations for Independence Day.
