Major gun law changes are headed to the desk of the Tarheel State's governor.

North Carolina lawmakers have passed a bill which expands where concealed handguns are legally allowed.

The Republican-backed bill allows concealed-carry permit holders to take guns into bars, restaurants and other places where alcohol is served as long as the owner does not forbid it.

The measure also allows permit holders to keep guns in locked cars on the campus of any public school or university.

Guns will also be allowed on playgrounds and other public recreation areas in the state.
