RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. -

A rabid raccoon was found in Russell County, Virginia.

This is the first confirmed case in Russell County this year. According to the Cumberland Plateau Health District, it was found in the Belfast area.

They believe it attacked a dog.

If you think it might have had contact with one of your animals you need to let animal control or the health department know.

Health officials remind you to vaccinate your animals for rabies.
