Grand Guitar
BRISTOL, Tenn. -

A Bristol landmark has a new owner and could have a new lease on life.

The Grand Guitar along Interstate 81 has been sold.

Bristol- based developer Steve Johnson purchased the landmark with intentions of restoring it as a way of honoring Bristol's musical heritage.

"I would like to restore it in a fashion that exemplifies the history and the culture of music in this area, " Johnson told News 5.

The three-story, 70-foot long structure is believed to be the world's largest guitar-shaped building and was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.

It's located across from the Tennessee welcome center along Interstate 81 at Exit 74.

It was originally built as a music store and was later used as a radio station for short time.
