SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

Sullivan County passed its $166 million budget without having to raise taxes.

Some commissioners attempted to restore a nine percent cut for school maintenance employees, which failed to pass.

An amendment to the budget to decrease commissioners' pay down to $500 a month was also voted down.

However, commissioners put $69,000 back into the budget for mental health services provided by Frontier Health.

The tax rate was dropped three cents due to a countywide property reassessment.

Commissioners also voted to restore $830 to the Kingsport and Bristol veterans' service.
