Sullivan County K-9s receive high honors

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

Sullivan County Sheriff Deputies and their furry partners are receiving high honors.

Two K-9 units were awarded 'Top Dog' from the U.S .Police Canine Association at their yearly training session.

Officer Matthew Cole and K-9 "Diablo" took the Top Dog award in the patrol dog category. Officer Melissa Marlowe and K-9 "Misha" took the top dog award in the detector certification trials.

Marlowe tells us what the reward means for the department. "To have both awards within the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and to win those out of all the other counties that are in the region, it's a great honor," said Marlowe.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office has five K-9 teams, all of whom completed certification.
