BRISTOL, Tenn. -

There's  a warning tonight from the Tennessee Department of Health regarding e-cigarettes.

The department issued a public health advisory encouraging people to be cautious in using the product. Department of Health Commissioner Dr. John Dreyzehner said he has concerns because e-cigarettes are unregulated, and it is hard to  know exactly what is in one.

Dr. Dreyzehner told News 5 that is too early to tell if e-cigarettes are dangerous. "This is about being cautious, this is about being careful. Using the product around children. The emissions from the product are not only water vapor, and we don't know what's in them at this point or what the long-term effects may be," said Dreyzehner.

The Health Department has created posters warning people about the potential dangers.
