Three Tennessee Supreme Court Justices are up for re-election, and it could be one of the most costly state Supreme Court election in state history.
Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey has been campaigning against the justices Cornelia Clark, Gary Wade, and Sharon Lee.
He's been meeting with business leaders, victims’ rights advocates, and others, making the case the case that they must go.
Supporters of the judges are already trying to raise money, saying they fear millions of dollars of outside money will be coming in to attack Tennessee Supreme Court justices.
Ramsey tells us the justices are too soft on crime."One of the justices the other day said the philosophy of the death penalty is still being debated. That's not their job, to debate the philosophy. Their job is to interoperate the laws that we pass."
Ramsey tells us if the judges are not re-elected, Governor Haslam will appoint three new justices to take their place.
The election is in August.
