There's bad news for the Tri-Cities job market -- ETSU professor Steb Hipple tells us the Tri-Cities are continuing to lose jobs.
Hipple says this is the sixth straight period where the Tri-Cities have seen a rise in unemployment.
Compared to the same period in 2012, the Tri-Cities unemployment rose 2.2 percent.
Hipple says the national economy is growing which is a positive for some people who lose their jobs or for college graduates because other places are seeing an increase in job creation. "Hires are occurring, but it's going to take more effort to find those jobs and it will probably result in relocation," adds Hipple.
Hipple tells us retail sales have also seen a decline because of the job losses. The good news, he says, is if the national economy continues to grow we will see a positive impact.
