Tornado victim honors neighbor
A Glade Spring tornado victim has found a special way to honor her neighbors.
Rita Muncy was at home with her son, his three children, and her nephew when the tornado hit on Glove Drive.
They all made it safely to the basement, but their house was destroyed.
Next door, her friend's home was leveled - this after the woman had just lost her husband two weeks earlier to Alzheimer's disease.
The friend decided not to rebuild, but when Muncy moved forward with the process, she created a sidewalk with brick from her neighbor's home as a way to pay tribute to them.
"I wanted to do something special because I lost my good friend V.T. Rector, a very dear friend, and his wife lost their home. We we built a sidewalk in memory of V.T., so I'll always have part of them with me forever," said Muncy.
Muncy said her friend, Mrs. Rector, moved to Atlanta to be closer to family but they keep in close contact.
As for Muncy's tornado readiness, she says she now keeps an emergency kit in her basement.
