NWS confirms two tornadoes hit Sunday

UPDATE 7/28: The NWS has confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes hit Sunday evening from two separate storms -- one in Rock Springs and one in Gray, Tennessee.

Sunday updates

There have been several reports of tornadoes and severe storms in the area Sunday evening.

Reports of a possible tornado touchdown in Church Hill and Carter Valley, TN around 5:35 this afternoon.

Tornado Watch issued by Storm Prediction Center for the News 5 WCYB area until 2 AM. All tornado warnings expired.

A tornado was confirmed in the Oak Grove area near Johnson City just after 6 p.m.

Golf ball-sized hail was reported in Kingsport around 6 p.m.

From Sullivan Co: DO NOT call 911 for trees down, only for emergencies.

We got reports of the sirens at ETSU going off around 5:45.
