Tri-Cities Regional Airport reopens runways

BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. -

The Tri-Cities Airport's runways will no longer be shut down over the weekend.

The airport has been busy with its repaving project, and for the past two weekends runways have been closed.

Airport officials say there is still more work that needs to be done, but it should not impact most travelers.

"We still have some work to do, it's not finished- we'll still have the nighttime closures where they'll be working on the shoulders and doing some of the final work," said Melissa Thomas with Tri-Cities Regional Airport.

The airport will continue its repaving work during the next several weeks.

During that time, the runways will be closed from 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m., so the only way you would be affected is if your flight is delayed and rescheduled to land during that time. If that happens, the flight would likely be rerouted to a nearby airport.
