GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -

Tusculum College is getting ready to expand their campus in Greeneville.

On Friday they broke ground at the site of the Ronald H. and Verna June Meen Center for Science and Math. The new building will include 88,000 square feet used to house classrooms, lab space, and research facilities for the science and math programs, plus an auditorium-style classroom.

Trustees for the college tell us this new building will give students the training they need and show the community the growth within the college. "It's going to be visible from the street. The community will see the dynamic growth that the campus is undergoing," adds Kenneth Bowman, a college board of trustee.

"This is a must-have to be able to prepare our students for the workplace of the 21st century," says Scott Niswonger, a college board of trustees member.

Major construction is expected to start in March. School leaders say the project will take almost two years to complete.
