SMYTH COUNTY, Va. -

A rare birth in Smyth County, Virginia has horse lovers celebrating.

Twin female quarter horses named Thelma and Louise were born on Tuesday.

Louise is still a little a weak, but the vet says she's fine and will be up and ready soon.

The twins owners, Trish Graybeal and Arvin Hayden, tell us the birth was totally unexpected, "We had no idea.  We came over to the barn around 10:30, we'd left about 7:30 and knew she was ready to foal, but didn't know she was ready for twins."

The birthing center at the farm will soon get crowded with two more mares getting ready to give birth in the next couple of days.
