WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA. -

An Abingdon, Virginia man is facing first degree murder charges after an incident in Glade Spring.

Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman told News 5 Kevin Roy Dickerson was arrested Friday night following an attack on another man.

Sheriff Newman told News 5 Vickey McVey went to visit her ex-boyfriend.  The two were having a conversation in McVey's car when Dickerson climbed out of the trunk, went to the passenger side of the car, and hit the victim in the face.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office said the victim tried to go back inside when Dickerson allegedly grabbed a shotgun out of the trunk and fired it.

Sheriff Newman said Dickerson is charged with attempted first degree murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, malicious wounding, using a firearm in commission of a felony and brandishing a firearm.

The other suspect, Vicky Ann McVey, is also facing charges of conspiracy to commit first degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Both are being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
