JOHNSON CITY, TENN. -

Employees from local companies take time out to help those in need by helping United Way and its partner agencies.

Workers from the Johnson City Mall helped clean up around the Family Promise family center.

They pulling weeds from the landscaping, washed windows as well as cleaned gutters and trimmed hedges.

Family Promise board president,  Paul Helpinstine says they're always happy to take all the help they can get.  "We serve families everyday of the year, 365 days a year, and so we need that from time to time." says Helpinstine. "We've got several different churches that help us with that, but it's always great to have a group from United Way  to help us as well."

The week of caring started as the day of caring 22 years ago, and allows employees of businesses to volunteer and to see where donations to the United Way go.
