BOBBY MANNING
SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. -

There are new facts just in on the controversy surrounding Interim Sullivan Highway Commissioner Bobby Manning.

We have just learned that Manning has been bonded, according to Sullivan County Attorney Dan Street.

Manning told News 5 WCYB on Wednesday morning he paid about $9,000 dollars out of his own pocket to get the bond he needs to keep working. A bond is a type of insurance required by law for public employees in high positions.

The former highway commissioner appointed Manning before resigning.

That means manning can keep his position until the county commission appoints an interim highway commissioner in the coming weeks.

Manning has been under fire for letting seven workers go over what he calls budget issues.

News 5 continues to sort through story. We'll bring you more facts tonight starting at 5:00 p.m.
