Horse owners, we have a reminder from veterinarians to get your horses vaccinated.
We’re told horses should be vaccinated for things like rabies, West Nile and encephalitis.
Veterinarian Stephen Denton tells us these viruses can be deadly. "They're out in the field, they're coming in contact with wild animals, skunks, and raccoons. When an animal is rabid they have no fear of the horse. They'll approach the horse and the horse is curious, they'll stick their nose down. They may get bit on the nose or bit on the leg," says Dr. Denton.
Dr. Denton adds it's also a good idea to get rid of standing water where misquotes can breed.
