Volunteers needed to help cancer patients

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

The American Cancer Society in Johnson City is gearing up for a successful season in the Relay For Life.

Throughout the week people, will be out wearing purple to remind others about the fight against cancer.

The purpose of the Relay For Life event is to recruit volunteers to help those who are undergoing cancer treatments, as well as their family members.

Volunteers are needed for all sorts of services, including just driving patients to their treatments. Senior Relay For Life Manager Elise Allen said, "We need volunteers that would be willing. They go through a short training program called the Road To Recovery'."
