Sheriff's office raising money for injured deputy
We're continuing to follow the recovery of a Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's deputy fighting for his life after a car crash.
Sergeant David Chambers was involved in an off duty crash on Highway 11-E earlier this month. Click here to read more about that.
Officials with the sheriff's office say Sergeant Chambers is now breathing on his own and is making small medical improvements.
Fellow employees are visiting his bedside and doing all they can to help, which includes raising money. "Dave has insurance with us, but we all know that doesn't cover everything. Dave is looking at a long-term rehab recovery period so we're trying to raise money," said Leighta Laintinen with the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's Office.
Employees say they're also ordering special bracelets to help raise money.
A fund has been set up at Bank of Tennessee under "Sergeant David Chambers Fund". If you would like to donate you can take it to the bank and deposit money into the account.
You can also take it to Mountain States Title Company 801 Sunset Drive Suite E1 Johnson City, TN 37604 c/o Lawrence Counts.
All checks are to be made out to: Sgt. David Chambers Fund.
