Change of scenery helps ETSU notch first win

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and East Tennessee State picked up its first win of the season, beating Samford 89-75.
    
Lester Wilson scored 20 points and Jalen Riley netted 16 for ETSU.
    
Samford (1-4) led 37-34 at the break however ETSU led on five occasions going in.

The Buccaneers (1-4) -trying to avoid a fifth straight loss- clawed back in the second half and the lead continued to change hands until ETSU ran-off an 11-0 scoring streak and led by seven with eight minutes to go.

ETSU never looked back and outscored the Bulldogs 55-38 in the second half as Riley hit 10 of 10 from the penalty line in the final minutes.
    
Isaiah Williams scored 21 points and Raijon Kelly added 20 for Samford.
