SALEM, Va. -

Honaker advanced to Sunday's state championship game by beating East Rockingham 2-1 in Saturday's semifinals.

The Tigers took the early lead with a Marisa Hughes RBI-single in the first inning.

East Rockingham tied it up with Morgan Breeden's RBI-single in the bottom of the inning.

In the seventh, the Tigers got a clutch single from Cassie Baker to right field which allowed Leah Elswick to score the go-ahead run.

Honaker held off East Rockingham in the bottom of the seventh for a 2-1 victory.

They will face Madison County - who beat Eastside 4-0 in the semis - Sunday morning in Salem for the Group A Division One state championship.

First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
